Riding the City Bus

What I learn is

how many expectations we have.

We think because someone made fast cars

we have the right to be driving our own.

Because someone made roads,

we expect to move in straight lines

with good drivers and low traffic.

Smooth asphalt without construction.

We want to leave at any time, in any direction.

The bus stop on the corner nearest our house

can not be decommissioned between one ride and the next attempt

for the benefit of others.

Someone would warn us.

Someone would have found us to explain.
